Signed front right corner.

An embodiment of Jenkins’ intuitive command of color, gesture, and light, Untitled (1970–1980) exemplifies the artist’s sensorial approach to watercolor. A sweeping bridge of spectral colors—magenta, yellow, brown, and gray—streams across the expansive surface, intersected by spontaneous, calligraphic lines. The forms evoke a river in motion, pulsing with rhythmic energy. Jenkins achieved a prismatic stream of colors through his process of dripping watercolor directly onto the canvas. The white ground contrasts with the saturated central composition, enhancing the depth and complexity of the piece. Jenkins’ watercolors, inspired by traditional East Asian painting, seek not to represent the visible world, but to distill its essence. The resulting work vibrates with a sense of nature’s inner spirit–fluid, ephemeral, and alive with energy.
