With striking verticality, pillars of color ascend gracefully, as Jenkins crafts a mesmerizing dialogue between color and light. Evoking the grandeur and glow of a sunrise, his work conjures both nature and the spiritual realm in radiant shades. On the left, flecks of white scatter across a veil of blue, embodying the cosmos. This stands in contrast to the green veil on the rightmost register, which stands in for terrestrial ground between which a sunlike form emerges. Jenkins dripped watercolor directly onto his surfaces. This untitled work perfectly encapsulates Jenkins’ ethereal style. The fluid washes of color sweep across the canvas, giving rise to his signature diaphanous forms. Hues of indigo, scarlet, and verdigris shimmer in translucent layers, interacting and merging to form a subtle yet dynamic abstraction full of vitality and motion.
